The minimum age is 30 years of age.
(Ages 25 to 30 may be eligible if certain criteria are met):
For the protection of our members and to ensure
that all Exotic Car Share (ECS) members are auto enthusiasts
who will be members in good standing, will represent the organization
well, are responsible, and will care for the exotic cars they
use, we require that all prospective members go through an
initial screening process. This process includes:
Driver’s Record - A Copy of State of Illinois
(or other state) driving record from within prior 30 days.
Members must have a good driving record, and no serious delinquencies
on their Equifax report, from within prior 180 days.
Proof of Insurance - Each time a member signs-out
one of ECS's exotic cars, they will need to present valid
proof of insurance. The member's insurance is primary. Our
supplemental insurance kicks-in when coverage via the member's
insurance are exhausted. This supplemental insurance is covered
in all ECS pricing.
Additional Security Measures - Since members
gain access to the entire fleet of ECS exotic cars, and they
can sign cars out with simply their member number, for the
protection of all our members, ECS requires that all members
provide a fingerprint on-site, and a photograph for their
member file.
Address Verification - ECS requests a signature
at the member’s home address on a statement of residence.
Out of town residents who also have a local physical address
of employment may be considered for membership
The exotic cars available to members of ECS
are rare and specialized vehicles. In a typical year, Ferrari
sells a total of only 1,000 vehicles in the U.S.. In many
cases, buyers of these cars have been waiting one to three
years for delivery!
A 30 to 60 minute vehicle orientation and driving
familiarity session with a designated ECS employee is provided
prior to any vehicle being used by a member. There are no
exceptions. Of course, ECS reserves the right to withhold
any vehicle from usage.
Due to the high replacement cost of parts and
the highly complex & often delicate nature of the mechanicals
and electronics of the exotic cars available through ECS,
as well as the dangers involved with driving high performance
vehicles, we hope that members will be understanding of our
policies and will be accepting of recommendations against
use of a particular exotic car or suggestions to use an alternative
exotic car.
Members (and users of any ECS vehicles) agree
to abide by all federal, state & local laws, as well as
all speed limits, driving restrictions, parking restrictions
and traffic laws.
ECS does not in any way sanction the exceeding
of posted speed limits, the use of radar detectors, or driving
in a dangerous or careless manner. Membership/usage privileges
are contingent on written agreement to this policy.
Because ECS takes the privilege of driving seriously,
under no circumstances will the consumption of alcohol, prior
to or while driving, be tolerated. That means no drinking
and driving.
Members should always consider safety to be
their top priority. They should also always extend the utmost
courtesy and tolerance to other drivers and appropriately
represent all the members of Exotic Car Share, and the overall
car enthusiast community, in all situations. The local &
state authorities as well as the community at large look favorably
on and support our organization. By following this approach,
members will help ensure that this support continues.
In many cases, the exotic cars we make available
require high-octane fuel. When re-fueling the exotic car,
members will need to use high octane fuel, such as 93 octane
(or, where available) 94 octane - unleaded fuel.
Classic cars of earlier vintage available at
ECS may require lead substitute, since the cars were designed
to run on leaded fuel. As a result, it will be a responsibility
of the member to add liquid lead substitute at every refueling.
Lead substitute will be provided free of charge by Exotic Car Share.
Long distance driving is one of the true pleasures
of exotic car ownership. ECS offers its members the opportunity
and encourages them to experience this aspect of exotic car
ownership.
At the same time, the risk of theft is greater and, for the
protection of our members, we have implemented a GPS tracking
system. As part of this system, if the member will be traveling
beyond 60 miles from the ECS office, ECS must simply be notified
in advance. This system keeps our insurance costs lower, which
in turn will ensure that we can keep the cost of fractional
ownership and club membership low for our members.
The member's auto insurance policy will normally
cover all situations. If necessary, ECS will recommend appropriate
coverage from a reputable insurance company, which is ussually
at a minimal cost to the member. In addition:
Any damage caused by reckless driving, driving
under the influence, or involved in any felonious act, is
the total responsibility of the member/exotic car user. There
will be a $2,000 deductible for damage of any kind to the
vehicle.
One additional family member may join Exotic Car Share, AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE, subject to all member
screening and other member requirements. No other driver will
be permitted to drive the vehicle, unless they have gone through
the initial screening process, the full orientation and the
driving familiarity session.
ECS exotic cars are not intended for racing
or track use. This includes club events. As we belong to many
of these clubs ourselves, chances are we’ll see you
there, so don’t attempt this.
Since Exotic Car Share is a membership organization
and vehicles are shared by all members, please adhere to our
no smoking policy at all times when in a ECS vehicle. We thank
you in advance.
When you decide to drive an exotic car, you've
taken on a significant responsibility. By following the above
ECS policies, guidelines and suggestions, plus using common
sense, courtesy, and reasonable care you will enjoy the greatest
classic and exotic car club experience possible.
